That Bloody Mountain

This is what they call the pinnacle of glory. There’s no greater honor than to join the Arch-Knights. There’s no better way to prove your devotion to your country. It’s a rough journey to reach the top of the mountain. Well of course it is. You’ve had to kill countless just to get here.

Let’s call that mountain for what it is. A mountain of bodies. Bodies no one will see because they don’t care. It’s all about the glory and public attention. If it was for anything else, they wouldn’t talk about it.

But they have to glamorize it. If they didn’t, then people will realize you won’t reach retirement if you climb that mountain. Your sons and daughters, husbands and wives, mothers and fathers won’t be coming home. That’s the dirty little secret. Shadows are easily killed if you shine just a little bit of light on them.
